Nelda Jagoe

Nelda Jagoe, 93, of One Park Place, Owensboro died Monday, March 5, 2007 at her home. Born in Evansville, a daughter of the late Thomas and Nora Wilkins, Mrs. Jagoe graduated from Owensboro High School and worked briefly for Owensboro Federal Savings and Loan and as the bookkeeper for the predecessor of Jagoe Development. She was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and its Fellowship Sunday School Class and attended Century Christian Church. Mrs. Jagoe was a long-time Wendell Foster Center volunteer and a committed nursing home and shut-in visitor for her church and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carlos B. Jagoe, Sr. and her son, John Jagoe.

Survivors include her sons, William R. Jagoe, II and his wife Elizabeth Coombs Jagoe, and Carlos B. Jagoe, Jr. and his wife Ethel M. Jagoe; seven grandchildren, Jenny Jagoe of Hilton Head, SC, Bill Jagoe IV and his wife Kim, Scott Jagoe and his wife Carmen, and William Bradley Jagoe and his wife Suzanne, all of Owensboro, Karen Smelser and her husband Andy of Catron, MO, Carlos B. Jagoe, III and his wife Tonya of Charlotte, NC, and Craig H. Jagoe and his wife Kristine of Gypsum, CO; and seventeen great-grandchildren, Courtney Sears Winders, Eric Sears, Holly Sears, Craig and Megan Millay, Rush Jagoe and Hadley Jagoe, Woodson Smelser, Sara Smelser, Lindsey Jagoe, Alex Jagoe, Hunter Jagoe, Spencer Jagoe, Cameron Jagoe, Axel Jagoe, Calli Jagoe and Sophie Jagoe.

Her steadfast caregivers, Pat Galloway, Donna Newcom, and Kathy Howard are fondly appreciated.

Services, officiated by the Rev. James Westmorleand, are at 11:30 Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Baptist Church Prayer Garden or the Memorial Fund of Century Christian Church.
