Nancy Catherine Ray Coleman Murphy, 73, of Owensboro passed away on March 28, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born on August 3, 1938 in Vincennes, Indiana the daughter of the late Melvin Ray and Mary Rabold Ray. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Ray and John Ray and a great grandchild, Hunter Coleman.
Nancy was a devout member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church; she was a proud supporter of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxillary. St. Jude was her best friend. She retired from AT & T in 1995 after 37 years of service as an operator/ business rep.
Nancy loved to crochet, knit, work word puzzles, cook, ride motorcycles, camp, read, spend time with her family and grandchildren at the cabin at Rough River. She was a neighborhood mother to all. She graduated from the Saint Rose Academy in Vincennes, IN in the Class of 1956.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jack Murphy of Owensboro, two daughters, Beth Hagan (Glen) of Calhoun, Tricia Milburn (John) of Owensboro, four sons, Randy Coleman (Sherril) of Owensboro, Tim Coleman (Sandy) of Hardinsburg, Dean Coleman (Bobbi) of Whitesville, Scott Coleman (Michelle) of Owensboro as well as five step children including Gil Murphy (Michelle) of Utica, and Julie Vanover (Rodney) of Utica, two sisters, Cheryl Kimbrell of Boiling Springs, SC, Mary Lou Ray of Vincennes, IN, five brothers, Joe Ray of Kokomo, IN, Mick, Rick, Steve, and Ed Ray all of Vincennes, IN, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday March 30, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 5:30 PM.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM March 31, 2012 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father John Meredith officiating with burial at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's or the Boys Town Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
