Nancy Allgood, 85, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at her home and under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky. The Daviess County native was born August 11, 1939, to the late William and Mildred Silberisen Goetz. Nancy graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School, class of 1957. While she did get a Hairdresser license and worked briefly at Hon, she was primarily a wife, mother, and homemaker to her family. Nancy enjoyed gardening and raising flowers and was an avid reader. She also sewed and dressed dolls with clothes from the turn of the century. Nancy loved making and wearing hats including Derby hats for herself and others. Everyone’s favorite dish for the holidays was her Christmas pudding which never became a leftover.
In addition to her parents, Nancy also was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her sons, James Smith; her second husband, John Allgood.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons, Greg Smith (Kim) of Owensboro, Mark Smith (Jill) of Shepherdsville, and Kevin Smith (Kim) of Bridgeport, TX; ten grandchildren, Christopher Smith (Darcy), Isaac Smith (Kassandra), Rachael Diekevers (Chris), Daniel Smith, Michael Smith (Brittany), Morgan Brightwell (Christion), Brett Parman, Blake Parman, Stephen Smith (Kristen), and Nickolas Smith (Brenda); eight great grandchildren; brother, William Goetz; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday, February 1 at St. Stephen Cathedral with same day visitation from 10:30 until 11:30 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
