Myrtle Ratliff Henry

Myrtle Ratliff Henry, 75, of Owensboro passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System hospital. She was born in Grant County, Kentucky to Bud and Junie McCormick.

Myrtle had been employed at River Valley Foods. She also worked at Mercy Hospital and American Tobacco Company. She was a member of Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church. Myrtle enjoyed sewing, crocheting, canning, camping and fishing. She served as a foster mother to 48 children through the years. Myrtle treasured her time with family, especially time spent with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nellie Elizabeth "June" Vonderhaar, Kathleen Ratliff and Gloria McCormick (at 2 years of age); brothers, James Clifford, Harold Samuel, Ruben Eugene, Franklin Delanor and the McCormick twin brothers who passed away at birth; grandchild, Joseph Wayne Taylor; great grandchild, Blaine Tyler and a step sister, Clara Crouch.

Myrtle is survived by her husband, Wilbur C. "Bill" Henry (her love of 42 years), daughters, Vickie Ann Taylor (Lenwood) of Calhoun, KY, Karen Dale Miller (Jim "Duke") of Cadiz, KY, Elizabeth "Libby" Warren (James Lee) of Beech Grove, KY, Robin Louise Ratliff of Owensboro, KY, step daughter, Mary Elizabeth Henry Knight of Owensboro, KY; son, Wendell "J.R." Osmund Ratliff, Jr. (Peggy) of Owensboro, KY; a sister, Mamie Louise Sikes of Cadiz, KY; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Tracy Burnett will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
