Morris Virgil Newton, Jr., 93, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a man of steadfast faith. Morris leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, humility, a love of God and Country, and his family. He was born February 13, 1932 to the late Morris Virgil Newton, Sr. and Virgie Lee Osborne Newton. Morris grew up with strong values that guided him throughout his life. He retired as an inspector with Modern Drop Forge, where he was known as a dedicated worker who never missed a day of work and took pride in doing things the right way.
On July 12th, 1952, Morris married the love of his life, Helen Louise Swain in Crown Point, Indiana. They made their home in Chicago Heights and Crete, Illinois during their working years before retiring to Owensboro. Together they raised two sons, Ronald Ray Newton and Morris Virgil Newton III, who carry forward their parent’s strength and character.
Morris was a longtime member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and purpose. Morris was a Free Mason for many years and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he served his country with pride. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family he cherished so deeply.
Also preceding him in death besides his parents are his beautiful wife Helen Louise Swain Newton, a brother Ray Newton, and sisters Opal Purcell and Elizabeth Johnson.
Morris is survived by his two sons, Ronald Ray Newton and wife Evelyn L. Grimes Newton of Steger, Illinois and Morris Virgil Newton III and wife Melanie Ann Long Newton of Salem, Missouri; five grandchildren Ronald Newton, Jr., Melissa Spinazzola, Michael Newton, Gary Newton, and Jacob Newton; 19 great grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including his two favorite nieces, Charlene and Sherrie, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy for him.
Funeral services will be Noon Friday, December 5, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 7 PM Thursday and after 11 AM Friday at the funeral home.

Morris will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the quiet, steady love he offered to those fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed and forever treasured.
