Morris Wayne Guthrie

October 14, 1921 — May 29, 2019

Morris Wayne Guthrie, 97, of Owensboro, passed away May 29, 2019 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born October 14, 1921, in Cumberland County, KY, to the late Virgil and Maude Guthrie. Morris served in the Army during World War II and the Korean war. He flew in on a glider to the beaches of Normandy on D-Day in 1944. Morris enjoyed golfing, fishing, and reading.

He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Morris Guthrie; sister, Thelma Skipworth; and brothers, Ralph and Philip Guthrie.

Morris is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn Conatser Guthrie; daughter, Janie (Chip) Lilly, of Bedford, KY; grandchildren, Sarah Guthrie and Connor Lilly; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Mr. Guthrie's caretakers, Warren, Buddy, Rick, and Neelie.

Services are private. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
