Miriam Best Rouse

Miriam Best Rouse, 89, of Owensboro, passed away on October 5, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Daviess County to the late Walter T. and Katherine L. Best.


Miriam was retired from the Daviess County School System. She was a loyal, lifelong member of Zion United Church of Christ. Miriam had a positive outlook on life and was very loved by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Elton Rouse; her parents and brothers, Ed and Mick Best.


Miriam is survived by a daughter, Sandy Rouse of Owensboro; sons, Wayne Rouse ( Sherry) of Houston, TX and Mark Rouse (Susan ) of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Marty Rouse (Jessica), Andy Rouse (Kathryn), Hadley Rouse and Erin Rouse; two great granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Lindsay Rouse; sisters, Lena Lovan, Dot Berry, Helen Leib and Jean Ann Griffin; brothers, George "Bud" Best, Richard "Dick" Best and Jerry Best and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, October 10, 2011 at Zion United Church of Christ, 625 Allen Street. The Rev. David Baldridge will officiate. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and on Monday from 10:00 am until service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky or Zion United Church of Christ 625 Allen Street.
