Minnie "Loretta" Hamilton

Minnie “Loretta” Hamilton, 89, of Owensboro was called home to Jesus on Friday, January 24, 2025, at her home under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky. The Grayson County native was born August 12, 1935, as one of 15 children to the late William and Mary Sullivan Hayes. Loretta was and always will be the light of her family, the hero they all will never forget. She loved spending time with them as well as watching her favorite TV shows, Monday Night Raw and NCIS. 

 In addition to her parents, Loretta also was preceded in death by her siblings, Leonard Hayes, James Hayes, George Hayes, Clarence Hayes, Steve Hayes, Lonnie Johnson, Martin Hayes, Floyd Hayes, Carolyn Sue Hayes, Lloyd Hayes, Ronnie Hayes, Donnie Hayes, and Jimbo Hayes; daughters-in-law, Cathy Johnson, Brenda Johnson; son-in-law, Gilbert Fitzgerald; a granddaughter and a great granddaughter. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Mary Fitzgerald, Roy Johnson, Mike Johnson all of Owensboro, Gene Johnson of Hopkinsville, and Charles (Nicole) Johnson of Chula Vista, CA; sister, Ann Berry also of Owensboro; 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a multitude of nieces and nephews. 

 The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Monday, February 3 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 pm and Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
