Minnie Pearl Burris Chambers, 90, of Owensboro died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Signature Health Care. She was born in Jefferson County, AL, to the late Baxter and Anna Patton Basham, had worked for General Electric and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Mrs. Chambers was a caregiver, she was kind and loving and put others needs before her own, her life was spent caring for family members and friends, volunteering at Hillcrest Health Center, gardening and making dolls. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James E. Burris, Sr; second husband, Dr. Virgil Chambers; eight brothers and sisters; and grandson, Wayne Shaffer.
Survivors include her son, Jim Eddie (Kim) Burris of Philpot; daughters, Yvonne (David) Shaffer and Tanne (Dennis) Gaddis both of Owensboro; grandchildren, John (Bryanne) Shaffer, Tammy (Robbie) Magan, Jennifer Vance, Kimberly (Jeff) Taylor, Dustin (Kelly) Burris and Madison Burris; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Jesse Carter.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
