Mildred E. Wathen, 90, of Owensboro, died Friday, January 29, 2016, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was born in Louisville to the late Clella and Verbal Mahurin Evans, had worked at General Electric and retired from the Daviess County School System. Mildred had been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Society, the Ladies Auxiliary and was most recently a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. She loved gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Victor Wathen; and brothers, Ronald Evan and Bobby Evans.
Survivors include her children; Judy Walters and her husband Mike of Louisville, James Wathen of Owensboro and Melissa Sloan and her husband Wendell of Owensboro; grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Magen, Kelly (Jeff) Guest, Micha (Glenn) Hack all of Louisville, Layne (Chris) Ramey of Princeton, Logan Sloan and Jordan Sloan both of Owensboro; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday with prayers at 6 p.m. and after noon on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
