Mildred Ann Trotter, RN, age 90, of Owensboro, went to be with our Lord on December 21, 2025, while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky.
Mildred was born on January 17, 1935, in Gallatin, Tennessee, to the late Erwin and Hazel Webster Marler.
Mildred was a 1956 graduate of the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and retired from Owensboro Daviess County Hospital in 1991 after 34 years, most of it spent in the Emergency Room, where she was the legend known as “Trotter.” She was an all-around nurse who took care of family members, friends, and neighbors on Old Hartford Road. Mildred was a lifelong member of Masonville Baptist Church.
She was also an adventurer who traveled around the world. She loved riding bicycles, four-wheelers, and roller coasters, and enjoyed boat trips and hot air balloon rides. She was fearless! She loved the rapper Pitbull, and many mornings were spent dancing around the kitchen to “Fireball.” She also loved watching all sports, especially her favorite Wildcats.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. Trotter; her son, Tim Trotter; her grandson, Cole Trotter; and her brother, James E. Marler.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, TinAnne Bickwermert (Martin) of Philpot; her granddaughter, Miranda Anne McKee (Greg Genovese), and great-granddaughter, Margo Scottie Genovese, born December 29, 2025, of Sunland, California; her granddaughter, Kalynn Rice of Owensboro; as well as her furry grandchildren, Luci, Punkin, and Munky, and our beloved “Moo.”
The family would like to thank her dedicated hospice nurse, Kara, RN; nursing assistants Allie and Makayla; spiritual counselor Leyette; and Amy, LMSW. These ladies will be forever friends to the family. Mildred loved staying at the Heartford House for respite visits, where she enjoyed visiting her “nurse” friends who always took loving care of her.
By the way, did you know she went to school with Ryan Seacrest and Jeff Lyons? (Or so she told us!)
The memorial service for Mildred Trotter will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm on Saturday. A private burial will take place in Crestview Memorial Gardens in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Heartford House, 2914 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, Kentucky 42303.
