Mildred Dean Powers Roby

Mildred Dean Powers Roby, 85, of Owensboro, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at St Anthony Hospice in Henderson. Born December 23, 1925 in Ohio County, Mrs. Roby was the daughter of the late Ottie and Beulah Lanham Powers; was a homemaker and member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Roby volunteered in the base family services offices while her husband was in the Air Force and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed sending cards to friends and family for all occasions. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Chester "CD" David Roby.

She is survived by a daughter Marsha Coffman and her husband John of Morganfield; grandchildren, Emily Gregson Bell and her husband Bucky of Owensboro and Daniel Hatchett and his wife Sonya of Georgetown; step-grandson, Ryan C. Coffman and his wife Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Mazden Ng, Roby Jane Taylor Bell, and Emma Grace Elizabeth Bell; step-great-grandchildren, Amber Snape, Ryan Duggins, Cody Coffman, and Luke Coffman; and a brother, Wilbert Lee (Kathy) Powers of Gary, IN.

Services are 1 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011 in Peace Chapel, Rosehill Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Hendricks officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations the Roby Animal Sanctuary (named in honor of CD and Mildred Roby) or to St Anthony Hospice.
