Mildred Tinius Morton

Mildred Tinius Morton, 88, of Owensboro passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County on February 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Cordelia Philpot Tinius; was retired from Sears where she was a PBX Operator for more than 28 years; and was a member of Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church. Mrs. Morton was a loving person who enjoyed her church and her family, especially her seven nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Aunt Mema." In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles E. Tinius, and sisters, Emma Probus and Ada Midkiff.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Louis N. Morton; nephews, Bob (Helen) Probus of Louisville, Bill (Ann) Probus of Cynthiana, KY, Mark (Cheryl) Probus of Columbia, SC, and Jim (Cathy) Midkiff of Owensboro; nieces, Janet (John) Glover of Atlanta, GA, Jane (Bill) Freer of Georgetown, KY, and Becky (Dave) Jackson of Indianapolis; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Noble Midkiff of Whitesville.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Harry Spurrier officiating followed by burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church.
