Mildred (Minnie) June Medley Pedley 82, of Owensboro, wife of Ward Pedley, Sr., passed from this world on July 14, 2017 to a glorious home that the Lord had prepared for her, but was not ready for her on four other occasions when she cheated death. Minnie was born February 13,1935 to the late Joseph Arville Medley in 1949 and Mary Ruth Wathen Medley in 1997. After her dad passed away when Minnie was 14 years old, her mother had to go to work to raise 5 children by herself. At that time there was no work for women, so she borrowed $1000 from her sister and started a country general store in Sorgho. Minnie worked in that general store and that is where she found the love of her life. She graduated as the second graduating class of Owensboro Catholic High School in 1953. Minnie always said that the Lord put her and Ward together and they built a life working together self-employed for 60 years. In 1985 she started Pedley Self-Storage and worked that business until her passing. Minnie always said Ward was her lover, her best friend and the person whom she could always depend.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl Medley in 1997; and a sister, Delores Medley Sowders in 1961.
"Ward and I started our life together in 1955 and we were blessed with 4 beautiful babies - 2 boys and 2 girls. Our kids have always been very respectful and loving to us for which we have always been thankful. I am so thankful for the many happy times in our lives. Some of our most happy times were when we would take all the kids to Lake Barkley in the spring on fishing trips or micro midget racing trips to other states. We always had a motor home, houseboat or cabin that Ward built to take us where we wanted to go to be together and enjoy each other. But, the greatest pride and pleasure was when we gathered each and every holiday as a family, spending time with our grandkids and great grandkids, a tradition that was never broken for more than 60 years. There has never been a holiday where all of the kids, grandkids and great grandkids were not present - from the time they were born. We are a blessed family and I truly believe that The Lord put Ward and I together as part of His Plan. We still love each other as we did 62 years ago." --- Minnie
