Mildred C. Kazlauskas

March 31, 1918 — June 26, 2006

Mildred C. Millie Kazlauskas, 88, of Owensboro, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born in McLean County, a daughter of the late Matthew M. and Ethel Bryant Sublett, she moved to Detroit following her graduation from high school, where she met and married her husband, John P. Kazlauskas. Returning to Owensboro in 1948, she raised her family while being actively involved as a member and Sunday school teacher with Temple Baptist Church, Walnut Street Baptist Church where she was director of the Womens Missionary Union, Apollo Heights Baptist Church, and Lewis Lane Baptist Church. She also served as director of the Womens Missionary Union for the Daviess-McLean Baptist Association, and as executive director of the local American Lung Association. She had worked as a secretary for the former CanTEx and NTTC Budlock, from which she retired. She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Kazlauskas in 1963, her daughter, Sarah Thomson Prater in 1983, and her grandson Terry Prater in 1993.

Survivors include her sons, John M. Kazlauskas and his wife Darlene, and Dan Kazlauskas and his wife Cheri, all of Owensboro; her daughter, Dr. Anna Omery and her husband Ray, of Simi Valley, CA; her grandchildren, Ron Prater, Jr., Cindy Satterfield, Chris Kazlauskas, Jeramy Kazlauskas, Sherree Harper, Johnna George, Matthew Kazlauskas, Ramsey Omery, Nader Omery, and Nadia Omery, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Services, officiated by Rev. Greg Huguley and Rev. Ronald Prater, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
