Mildred M. Crowe

Mildred M. Crowe, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born June 3, 1929 in Ohio Co. to the late Harvey T. and Ella B. Horrell Marksberry, Sr. Mildred was the owner and operator of Mildred's Beauty Shop in Whitesville for years and also she and her husband, I. L. Crowe, were the original owners and operators of Mils Dairy Drive-In until their retirement. She was a member of Whitesville Baptist Church and had been attending Owensboro Christian Church. Mildred was one of 11 children and was affectionately known by her grandchildren as "Punkin". She also was formerly the Worthy Matron of the Whitesville Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Mildred was also preceded in death by her husband, I. L. Crowe in 2005; brothers and sisters, William H. "Sam" Marksberry, Gene Marksberry, Paul Marksberry, John D. Marksberry, Peggy Jeffers, Mary Lee Poole, Betty Shelton, and Rachel Kirtley; a grandson, Matt Ross; and a stepson, David Crowe.

Surviving are her sons, Mike Gray and wife Mary Pat of Owensboro and David Gray and wife Dianna of Lawrenceburg, her daughter, Kim Murley of Owensboro, stepsons, Bob Crowe and wife Mary Ann of Owensboro and Frank Crowe of Athens, GA, a stepdaughter, Joan Morton and husband Chuck of Niles, MI, two brothers, Harvey T. Marksberry, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Russellville and Jack Marksberry and wife Joyce of Utica, 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 6, at Whitesville Baptist Church officiated by family friend Myke Templeton and assisted by Pastor Dan Cecil. Burial will follow in Cates Cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at Whitesville Baptist Church.
