Michael Wayne "Mike" Walters, 56, of 9979 Morgantown Rd., Whitesville, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident. He was formerly from Farmersburg, Ind. He was a boilermaker with the National Transient Lodge and had also worked at Big Rivers in Hawesville for 18 years. He enjoyed doing many things including riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, traveling, hunting, boating, and participating and watching all types of sports, and, at one time, used to race flattrack motorcycles and mud racing. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Phillip Walters, and his mother and stepfather, Estel and Ruth VanArsdale Braner.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cathy Walters, a daughter, Cara Rhoades of Rockport, Ind., a son, Michael Everhart and wife Linda of Henderson, Ky., eight grandchildren, Selina Everhart, Dessica Everhart, Shania Rhoades, T. J. Ritchison, Kassie Ritchison, Shawdae Ritchison, Jerry Ritchison, and Hunter Helmick, a great grandchild, Dee Kelly, three sisters, Rita Barton of Terre Haute, Ind., Marsha Myers of Farmersburg, Ind., and Michaelle Downey of Mooresville, Ind., and a brother. Dale Walters of Snow Hill, N. C.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Saturday, May 31, at the Audubon Church of the Nazarene, 15 Carter Rd., Owensboro.
