Michael L. Volk, 60, of Philpot, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Born in Owensboro on August 14, 1957, he was the son of Joseph Edward and Wanda Brown Volk; and was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. Mr. Volk was a 1975 graduate of Daviess County High School and earned his bachelor degree from Western Kentucky University. He was retired from the City of Owensboro where he was a housing planner. Above all else, Mike adored his family. He also enjoyed visiting Bardstown, loved gardening and cooking, volunteered for Habitat, and loved snuggling with his dog, Siri. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Edward Volk, Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Anjanette Murphy Volk; daughters, Rebecca Volk and Anna Catherine Volk both of Philpot; his mother, Wanda Volk of Owensboro; a brother, Donald Volk and his wife Terri of Owensboro; a sister, Janet Volk Neely and her husband Bob of Owensboro; and nieces and nephews, Laura (Adam) Boarman, Ryan (Jenny) Neely, and Chris (Karen) Volk, JeremyVolk and Nick Volk.
Funeral service will be 12 noon Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Jim Keegan officiating, followed by burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
