Michael D. Roby

Michael D. Roby, 59, of 3003 Strawbridge Place, Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Chicago, IL to the late James Lawrence and Stella Mae Thompson Roby. He was the Membership Development Coordinator for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #1701 where he had been a member for 40 years. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic minister to the sick. He was very devoted to his Lord and Savior and to his church. He was the editor of the Rank and File Catholic Newsletter, a trustee for the N.E.C.A.-I.B.E.W. Health Insurance Fund, and secretary of the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee along with other elected offices. He was an avid U. K. basketball and football fan, was very involved in politics for the Democratic party in Daviess Co., and generously gave countless hours of his time in helping those in need. He was a very loving and giving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and his family was very important to him.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Marsha Sledge Roby, three daughters, Angela Roby Baker and husband Matthew of Woodbridge, Va., Amy-Beth Roby Mason and husband Steve of Ft. Worth, TX, and Alyssa Roby of Owensboro, five grandchildren, Taylor and Jacob Bradfield, Delaney Baker, and Ruthie and Clare Mason, two sisters, Cindi Roby Reisz and Shannan Roby Dennison, both of Owensboro, a brother, Larry Brent Roby of Owensboro, two Aunts, Christine Hunter and Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Brown and husband Anthony, both of Owensboro, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, December 20 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
