Michael P. Pollock, 31, of Owensboro lost his 2-year, courageous battle with cancer Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the University of Louisville Brown Cancer Center. Michael never gave up, was always smiling and providing encouragement to his family. Born December 6, 1977, he was the son of Terry and M. Alice Wedding Pollock; enjoyed soccer and Boy Scouts as a youth; was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High where he was a 6-year member of the marching and Pep Bands; was a chef and had worked at Rahills, The Summit, and American Bounty; and loved cooking for his family and friends. Michael enjoyed video games, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Paul Pollock and his father-in-law, Robert "Poppy" Parks.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Jamie Parks Pollock; children, Tristan Pollock and Michael Lee Pollock; a step-daughter, Destiny Key; a sister, Abbey (Brad) Freels of Yelvington; half-brothers, Tony Pollock and Chris Pollock of St. Louis; grandparents; Louis "Pat" and Birdie Wedding of Philpot and Delores Pollock of High Ridge, MO; aunts and uncles, Pat and Todd Stelmach of Owensboro, Judy and Joe Hayden of Owensboro, Sue and Larry Tierney of Philpot, Dennis and Cindy Wedding of Philpot, Steve and Cindy Wedding of Philpot, Jim and Glenda Wedding of Yelvington, Bill and Tammy Wedding of Pleasant Ridge, Lisa and Ron Poole of Central City, and Bob Wedding of Owensboro Louis and Nancy Voss of High Ridge, MO, Debbie and Bob Bove of Charlotte, NC, Pat and Renetta Pollock of Blaine, WA, and Jennifer and Mike Akers of Festus, MO; a great-aunt, Alma Montgomery of Owensboro; many cousins; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Parks of Owensboro; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alberto Ramos of Livermore, Katherine Ramos of Owensboro, Ginger Leonard and Simbob Parks of SC.
Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. at St Anne Chapel, Resurrection Cemetery on Monday, July 20, 2009. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home. There is no visitation on Monday.
