Michael Anthony Murphy

Michael Anthony Murphy, 58, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born March 21, 1957, in Jefferson Co., KY to the late Frank J. and Anna Mae Murphy. Mike had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 29 and had been attending Yellow Creek Baptist Church. He was the former owner of Golfer's Paradise, had worked at Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital for 16 years, and had managed Batteries Plus for several years until he retired. He was a member and the president of the Owensboro Isotopes R/C Airplane Club and was a former member of the Thruston-Philpot Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as assistant chief. Mike had been in the Boy Scouts where he became an Eagle Scout, he enjoyed camping and the outdoors. He enjoyed listening to Gaither Gospel music and telling funny stories in which he always had plenty to tell. Mike was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Alan Murphy on July 16, 1989.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Kimberli Thrasher Murphy, a brother, Frank W. Murphy of Owensboro, a niece, Jessica Thrasher Blevins of Owensboro, and a nephew, Kenneth Brian Murphy of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 25, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 8:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
