Michael Wayne Gordon

Dr. Michael Wayne Gordon, 38, of Louisville, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Chicago, IL. He was born April 25, 1974 in Daviess Co., KY. Michael was working for the University of Louisville in Cancer Research. He graduated from Daviess Co. High School in 1992, received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Louisville in Science and Biology and later his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2012. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Louisville and had attended Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church while in Owensboro. Michael was a University of Louisville Cardinals fan and enjoyed playing classical guitar and the piano. He also loved his dog, Dot very much. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Wayne Gordon on August 29, 1992 and his grandfather, Elbert L. "Buddy" Gordon, Sr. on November 20, 1980.

He is survived by his mother, Brenda Towery Gordon of Calhoun, a brother, Christopher Conrad Gordon and wife Michelle of Phoenix, AZ, a sister, Brilee Jude Towery Huckleberry of Calhoun, his grandmother, Martha Jo Gordon of Owensboro, his uncles and aunts, Elbert Lee Gordon, Jr. and wife Judy of Owensboro, Bruce Gordon and wife Carol of Owensboro, Bobby Gordon and wife Patsy of Maceo, and Debbie Harreld and husband Arthur of Owensboro, several cousins including a special cousin, Scott Gordon and wife Jenny of Owensboro, his life partner, Vanessa Coleman of Louisville, and a close family friend, Melissa Huckleberry of Calhoun.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 4, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 11:00 A.M. on Monday.
