Michael Warren Mike Copeland, 57, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Wellington Parc in Owensboro, Kentucky. Mr. Copeland was born in Anniston, AL, graduated from Daviess County High School and Murray State University, was a member of First Baptist Church, the Promise Keepers and the Owensboro Transportation Club, and was a sustainer donor at the River Park Center. He had worked for Parr Trucking for 10 years before starting his own company, West Express Trucking. In 1988 he received the Mayors Award for Excellence for the creation of the Kentucky Bone Marrow Donor Registry. He had enjoyed boating, snow skiing, playing golf, traveling, watching NASCAR, and RVing. Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by his son, Wesley Paul Copeland in 1986.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Marilyn Kay Copeland, a daughter, Cambron Sook and her husband Tony; a son, Michael Warren Copeland, Jr. of Owensboro; his mother and father, Bill and Christine Wilson of Pell City, AL; a brother, Steve Copeland and his wife Sandra of Randolph, Maine; two sisters Jackie Harrison of Birmingham, AL, and Eva Arnold and her husband Morgan of Pell City, AL; grandchildren, Tyler, Copeland and Kate Sook, Graci Judd and John Michael Vinson all of Owensboro.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, in the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Louisville, Kentucky.
