Melvin Gael Thomas

August 27, 1944 — April 12, 2013

Melvin G. Thomas, 68, of Maceo left this world on Friday, April 12, 2013 surrounded by his close family and friends after a short but hard fight with cancer. He was born August 27, 1944 in New Albany, IN to the late Fremont and Edythe Thomas.

He is also preceded in death by a previous wife, Wanda Manship Thomas.

He served in the military during the Vietnam War. Melvin was a semi- trucker most recently under lease to Kaplan Trucking of Cleveland. Melvin enjoyed trucking for the most part, traveling the states seeing the world through the windshield of his rig and especially when his wife Brenda could join him.

Along with trucking, which Melvin did for over forty years, he enjoyed fishing, getting together with friends around the " round table" at Hillbilly's for coffee and gossip, taking " mini" vacations with his wife and nephew Justine Krampe, and arguing with his dispatcher/friend Sherry Rickard.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 27years, Brenda Zoglmann Thomas of Maceo; a step daughter, Diane Manship Rodman of Georgetown; a grandson, Jason Rodman of Washington, Indiana; a step- granddaughter, Vanda Rodman Robbeloth of Georgetown, IN; in-laws, Bill and Martha Zoglmann of Owensboro, sister-in-law Becky Krampe ( Gene) of Maceo; brother- in- laws; Wayne ( Susan) and Chuck ( Lisa) Zoglmann of Lewisport, David Zoglmann ( Judy) of Whitesville, Steve ( Lori) and John ( Christel) Zoglmann of Philpot and Den Zoglmann ( Donna) of Owensboro, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with best friends David and Elaine Leach of Russellville.

The family would like to express deep gratitude to Dr. Kevin Ridenhour who took such wonderful care of Melvin. On watching Dr. Ridenhour leave after his last visit, Melvin remarked to his wife and sister-in-law "I really like that guy".

Funeral services will be at 10:00a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 8:00p.m on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests casual dress for the visitation and funeral- NO SUITS AND TIES!
