Melvin Dwight Belcher, 63, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Heartford House. He was born on November 22, 1949 in Butler Co. and was a 1968 graduate of Owensboro High School. He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and had been attending His House Ministries in Mayfield. He had been a volunteer with Owensboro Parks and Recreation having worked at the Hillcrest Golf Course on Friday evenings. He was a Quartermaster 3rd Class in the U. S. Navy having served on the U.S.S. Sims and also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and gardening and was a member of the Daviess Co. Fish and Game. He was preceded in death by aunts and uncles, Lorene Askew, Bernice Ashby, Welda Ashby, Martha Goodwin, Lilburn Ashby, Ronald Ashby, and Jack Ashby.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Wanda Belcher, his daughter, Kendrea and husband Michael Nichols of Owensboro, a grandson, Dillion Nichols of Hardinsburg, and his parents, Lawrence and Dorris Ashby Belcher of Grand Rivers, KY.
A Celebration of Life will be from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 2nd, in the Parish Hall of St. Martins Catholic Church. Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
