Maxine McDaniel

Maxine McDaniel, 85, of Owensboro, passed away August 9, 2017. Born to the late Virgil and Myrtle Lancaster Ray on May 14, 1932, Maxine worked hard her whole life. She was employed by National Linen where in 1993, she retired. She loved flowers and enjoyed taking care of African Violets. Maxine also enjoyed watching birds and eventually earned the nickname "Bird Lady". She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert O. McDaniel; son, John I. McDaniel and brothers, Ernest Coleman Ray and Edward Lee Ray.

Maxine is survived by daughters, Gay Nell (Wayne) Estes, Mary Jane Beavers and Nancy (Daniel) Shelton; sons, William (Donna) McDaniel, Gary (Mabel) McDaniel, Virgil O. McDaniel and Mikel R. McDaniel; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Yelvington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, and after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
