Maxine Elizabeth Talbott Johnson

November 27, 1934 — November 29, 2015

Maxine Elizabeth Talbott Johnson, 81, of Owensboro, was born on November 27, 1934 to Grant G. Talbott, Sr. and Gertrude V. Miller Talbott. She departed this life and was called to her final resting place on Sunday, November 29, 2015.

She graduated from Western High School and attended Kentucky State College. She worked at S. W. Anderson Department Store early in her life and became a homemaker after marriage. Maxine accepted Christ as a young child and enjoyed membership at Fourth Street Baptist Church until the time of her death. She was devoted to her Sunday School class as the secretary, greeting the class with a smile and candy for all. Maxine was an avid reader; she always had books, books, and more books, she loved the written word and read daily.

She was married to Claude E. Johnson for 48 years and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2011. Also preceding her in death were her mother and father, two brothers, Grant G. Talbott, Jr. and John T. Talbott, and three sisters, Mae Virginia Talbott, Creasie Rose Smith, and Ethel C. Smith.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her brother, William Luther (Hazelene) Talbott of Richmond, VA, and three sisters, Gloria E. Hicks and Sallene A. Lockett, both of St. Louis, MO, and Josephine (Harold) Rowan of Owensboro, a brother-in-law, Edward "Al" Smith of Owensboro, and sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Washington of Pasadena, CA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her beloved dog, Max. Also leaving behind special friends, Florence Black, Meryl Griffith, and Jewell Dean Howard who will miss her dearly.

Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, December 3, at Fourth Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Fourth Street Baptist Church.

May her soul rest in peace with the Lord, now and forever more, Amen.
