Max E. Fischer

Max E. Fischer, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on December 30, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess County to the late Martin and Sadie Fischer.

Max served with the U.S. Marine Corp during WW II. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 29 years of service and was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, LaVerne in 2005 and a sister, Marie Clark.

Max is survived by daughters, Evelyn Vorbeck ( Paul ) of Paducah, KY and Phyllis Phelps ( Jimmy) of Beaver Dam , KY; grandchildren, Jennifer Vorbeck of Paducah, KY, Brent Phelps(Jennifer) of Hartford, KY, Lindsay Phelps of Beaver Dam, KY, Amanda Vorbeck of Chicago and Loran Phelps of Beaver Dam, KY; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Aline Garrett of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Fr. Tony Jones will officiate. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. The visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm with prayers at 5:00 pm and on Monday from 9:00 am at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital
