Mary Rosita Willett

Sister Mary Rosita Willett,88, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died February 21 at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 68th year of religious life.

An educator for 49 years, she taught in Owensboro at Sts. Joseph & Paul School (1951-65) and was principal and teacher at St. Martin School, Rome (1977-78). She served as supervisor of the Owensboro Catholic Schools (1966-68). She taught in several other schools in Kentucky and New Mexico and served in parish ministry in Kentucky and Illinois.

At Brescia College, she was a member of the Education faculty (1965-66), registrar (1968-74), and administrative assistant in the Ministry Formation office (1994-96). She served in admissions at Mount Saint Joseph Academy (1978-80) and in hospitality ministry for Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center (1990-91). She retired in 1996.

Survivors include three sisters, Sister Dorothy Marie Willett, Maple Mount, Kathleen Dunkel, Englewood, Ohio, and Doris Trapp, Mount Carmel, IL; one brother, Joseph Vernon Willett, Evansville, IN; nieces and nephews, and the members of her religious community.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 24 at Mount Saint Joseph, where visitation will begin Friday at 4 p.m., with a wake service following at 6:30 p.m.

Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro, is in charge of arrangements.
