Mary Rose Whitehouse, 80, of 4800 Pleasant Valley Road, Philpot, died peacefully at her home on Monday, August 27, 2007 with her family surrounding her. She was born in Owensboro to the late Simon and Louise (Childress) Lindsey. She was a devout Catholic with a deep devotion to Mary, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, and a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her children and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Samuel and Simon Lindsey, Roy, James and Joseph Dan Lindsey.
Surviving her is her husband of 58 years, Gordon Whitehouse; children and their spouses, Colleen (Don) Turner of Westfield, IN. Bruce (Sandy) Whitehouse of Philpot, Brenda (Mike) Young of Omaha, NB., Shannon (David) Boarman of Philpot, Dennis (Gayla) Whitehouse of Philpot, Mark (Margaret) Whitehouse of Utica, Beverly Nelson of Gainesville, FL., and Richard (Lori) Whitehouse of Owensboro., 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a brother Gilbert Lindsey of Philpot, and a sister in law, Evelyn Ellis of Philpot.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Carl McCarthy officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with prayers at 7 p.m., and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Sts. Joseph and Paul Building Fund.
