Mary Elva Thompson Wathen

Mary Elva Wathen, 82, of Owensboro, died February 1, 2014 at The Heartford House in Owensboro. She was born June 10, 1931 to the late Milton and Elva Vaughn Thompson. Mary graduated from Barret High School and was a school bus driver with Daviess County School System for 14 years. She attended Faith Temple Family Worship Center and will be remembered for her devotion in taking care of her family. Mary also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carl and a son, Carl Phillip Wathen.

Surviving are her children, Gary (Sherry), Dwight (Mary Jo), David (Penny), and Robert (Evelyn) Wathen; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a sister, Bessy Laird.

Services will be at noon on Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro with Bro. Alan Bivens presiding. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm on Tuesday and after 9 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Temple Family Worship Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
