Mary Ruth Wathen

Mary Ruth Wathen, 84, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2014. Mary Ruth was born in Louisville, KY on February 13, 1930 to the late Ernest David and Ruth Elizabeth Hurrle Gilmore. She was a loving mother who always had a smile on her face and had a love for life. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Most all Mary Ruth loved her family, especially her children.
In addition to her parents Mary Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Maxwell Wathen Sr. and her son Harvey Wathen Jr.
Survivors include her son Ernest Wathen, daughter Ruth Ann Wathen, both of Houston, TX, and special friends and caregivers Karen Rostron and Kim Spainhoward Sikes.
Expression of sympathy may take the form of donations to Blessed Mother Catholic Church.
The funeral mass will be 10 am Tuesday June 3, 2014 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2 pm until 8 pm on Monday and after 8:30 am Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be held at 7 pm Monday. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
