Mary Lewis Thomas

Mary Lewis Thomas, 87, of 1942 Sussex Place, Owensboro, Kentucky, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Thomas was born to the late Elmer and Ida Sword Lewis in Ashland, Kentucky on September, 7, 1922. She had worked as a secretary for the Owensboro City School System and as a Real Estate Agent at Century 21. She was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and the Mary Lou Phillips Sunday School Class. Mrs. Thomas was an avid bridge player and a collector of antiques. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph N. Thomas, Sr. on March 9, 2008; and her siblings, Charles Lewis, Geraldine Lewis, and James Lewis.

Survivors include her daughter, Robin Smith of Owensboro; sons, Ralph N. Thomas, Jr. of Owensboro and James G. Thomas, Sr. and his wife Patty of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Ashley Thomas, Geyer Thomas and his fianc Lindsey Bowles, Tiffany Thomas and her fianc Jason Smith, and Courtney Thomas all of Bowling Green, Katie Turner and her husband Steve and Sarah Saffran all of Owensboro; great grandchildren, Ryan Thomas and his fianc Lauren Russell of Bowling Green, Morgan Turner, Madalyn Turner and Maci Turner all of Owensboro.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the chapel at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 pm until 8 pm and after noon on Friday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Settle Memorial United Methodist Church or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
