Mary Helen Dawson Taylor, 80, of 2123 Mayfair Drive, Owensboro, KY, completed her journey on earth Saturday, November 10, 2007, at 5:00 AM. at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born September 1, 1927 to the late F. I. and Irene Martin Dawson in Daviess County. She was a member of Third Baptist Church and the Mrs. John Morgans Young Married Womens Sunday School Class. She was a beauty operator, a Lady Kentucky Colonel, and became a partner with her husband in real estate. She enjoyed arranging flowers, reading and knitting.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlin F. Dawson and Arnold M. Dawson; a sister, Minnie Lou Dawson Belford.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, J. T. Taylor; her daughter, Jennifer Taylor Stebbins of Louisville, her son, Jon Dawson Taylor and his wife, Jackie of Owensboro; three granddaughters, Sarah Helen Taylor, Mary Taylor Stebbins, Virginia Elizabeth Taylor; seven nieces, five nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews; two sisters, Elizabeth Dawson Meserve and her husband, Franklin of Hawesville, and Virginia Dawson McEuen and her husband, Byron of Owensboro; a special friend and caregiver, Brenda Mosley of Utica, a cousin and long-time friend, Jean Carpenter of Owensboro.
Services will be 11:30 AM Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 3:00 until 8:00 PM Monday and after 10:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Third Baptist Church Bldg Fund, 527 Allen Street, Owensboro, KY 42303.
