Mary Ellen Bosley Stinson

Mary Ellen Bosley Stinson, 92, of Heritage Place, died peacefully, Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Ralph D. Stinson, her husband, preceded her in death March 3, 2000. She and Ralph lived in Owensboro for many years, then in Ohio County for 20 years until they returned to Daviess County in 1986. They were retired for 25 years and traveled extensively, visiting 47 states and 8 European countries. They wintered in Florida for many years.

Mary Ellen was an Extension Club Homemaker for 37 years. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener and won many county fair ribbons on her sewing, canning and other items. She was a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and a 4-H leader in Daviess and Ohio counties where she taught many young girls to sew. She was a caregiver in many ways to her family, neighbors, and friends. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

Surviving are: her daughters; Ann S. (Herschel) Horn of Philpot, Judy S. (Robert) Lyons of Louisville, KY., a nephew whom she raised, Larry Ford of Hartford,KY., six grandchildren, Richard (Jean) Horn of Florence , S.C., Tim Horn of Philpot, Terry (Staci) Horn of Owensboro, Sherri (Brad) Payne of Philpot, Monique (Arthur) Foister of Orlando, FL., Jennifer (Heath) Ward of Seattle , WA., and 11 great-grandchildren; Bethany Horn (Michael) Douty and Jordan Horn; Jesse and Sarah Horn; Ashley Horn; Blake, Holly and Luke Payne; Skylar and Emma Foister, and Freddy Ward. Surviving brothers and sisters are: Jim Bosley of San Diego, CA., and Sam Bosley of St. Louis,MO., Anna Sue Bennett of Elizabethtown, KY., Mildred Ward of Owensboro and Louise Thrift of Los Angeles , CA. Also there are many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Stamps officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and after 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be private.
