Mary A. Smith

Mary A. Smith, 92, of Owensboro, died Thursday, November 4, 2010, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born April 11, 1918 to the late William Evertt and Gracie Keown Smith in Hancock County. She was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, and was retired from General Electric. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Zelma Lee Hamilton, Maudie Sanders, Virgie Cravens and a nephew, Johnny Hamilton.

Survivors include her sister, Dolly Ray of Owensboro; her nephews, Phillip Ray of Owensboro, Larry Ray of Trion, GA, and her caregiver, James Ray of Owensboro, her niece Pat Owens of Owensboro; several great-nieces, great-nephews and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
