Mary Elizabeth Smith

Mary Elizabeth Smith, 98, of Owensboro, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Hermitage. She was born October 5, 1916 to James and Laura Pearl Crowe Bolser. She attended Owensboro High School and graduated in 1934. She worked at Ken-Rad and General Electric. Mary Elizabeth married Mathew Smith in 1950 and worked with him in his florist, Smith Florist, until he retired in 1979. She was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church and was in the "Reliable" Sunday School Class. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family and friends. Having no children of her own, she loved her role of "Aunt Ishie" to her 11 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Wiley E. Bolser and John R. Bolser, her sister Lillie Mae Huhtala, a niece, Laura A. Flanigan, and a great niece, Leah Bolser Greene.

She is survived by seven nieces, Carolyn Burruss of Harvest, AL, Beth Alfonso of Coral Springs, FL, Jeannie Conway of Paducah, Betty Chapman, Cindy Worth, Pat Potts, and Lorraine (Eddie) McFarland, all of Owensboro, four nephews, James Bolser and Mark Bolser, both of Owensboro, John Bleckman of Sacramento, CA, and Bill Bleckman of Boise, ID, 25 great nieces and nephews, 33 great great nieces and nephews, and two great great great nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:30 P.M. Saturday, May 9, at the Chapel of Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
