Mary Elizabeth Sledge

Elizabeth B. Sledge, 78, of Lewisport, formerly of Owensboro, died Monday, March 01, 2004 at Heartland Villa. Born on November 16, 1925 at Smiths Grove, KY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Nell Vaughn Bybee, she retired after seventeen years as Administrative Assistant for the Owensboro-Daviess County Committee on Aging, and was a member of Third Baptist Church since 1956. She was preceded in death by her husband G.W. Sledge in 1981, three brothers, James, David, and Charles Bybee, and step-children, Loretta Lowe and Lois Dye.

A sister, Ann L. Hendrick of Sellersburg, Indiana, two sisters-in-law, Maybelle Bybee and Gertie Bybee, of Bowling Green, a step-daughter, Suella Dillard of Bowling Green and grandchildren of G.W. Sledge, Mike Dye of Edison, TN, Becky Lou Dye of Knoxville, TN and Nancy S. Haney of Juliet, TN, four life-long friends, Hubert and Ruth Brown of Lewisport and Don and Linda Preuss of Owensboro, and three nieces, Barbara Hendrick Doyle, of Gainesville, FL, Susan Bybee Wise, of Bowling Green, and Darla Holder of Louisville survive her.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Tuesday and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green.
