Mary Hunter Sharp, 90, of 723 Dornell St., Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at her home. She was born on March 16, 1920, in Caster Township, Missouri, daughter of the late George L. and Sarah Alice Stratton Hunter. She retired from General Electric after more than 30 years and was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. Mary loved traveling, gardening, crocheting, and watching the U.K. Wildcats play basketball. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse B. Sharp in June of 1984, a grandson, Randy Winstead, and several brothers and sisters.
She was blessed with four children, Norma Lauderdale of Evansville, IN, Darrell Sharp and his wife Teresa of Albuquerque, NM, Gary Sharp and his wife Annette of Owensboro, and Sheryl Carrico of Hancock County, five grandchildren, Rebecca Carroll and her husband Gary of Evansville, Bruce Winstead and his wife Michele of Rockport, IN, Tammy Hayden of Owensboro, Stacey Sharp of Owensboro, Jason Carrico of Afghanistan, and Jeffrey McCullough and his wife Debbie of Albuquerque, 13 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her best friend and beloved companion, James C. Reeves of Owensboro.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 16 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 8:30 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
