Mary Roark Reed

Mary Roark Reed, 92, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Simpson County on April 11, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Henry Smith Roark and Eva Jones Roark; had worked as an inspector at General Electric for 15 years; and was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses East Congregation. Mrs. Reed enjoyed gardening, sewing, travelling, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Charles E. Reed in 1997 and a son, David J. Reed in 2005.

Surviving are her children, Joyce (Jim) Smith of Louisville, Larry (Polly) Ratliff of Memphis, TN, Mike (Linda) Reed of Kissimmee, FL, Keith (Vicki) Reed of Louisville, and Kevin (Jo Ann) Reed of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wickie Morrison of Philpot.

Services are 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Brother Jessie Hayman officiating. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. .
