Mary “Becky” Beck Reynolds, 99, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully at Signature Health Care in Owensboro on November 1, 2025. She was born on December 31, 1925, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Mamie Zeller Beck and Charles W. Beck. She was the granddaughter of James R. Beck, former Mayor of Owensboro.
Becky was a proud graduate of Owensboro High School. After graduation, she attended Tennessee Nursing School at Memphis, where she met her future husband, Fred C. Reynolds. Becky and Fred eventually returned to Owensboro, where they raised their two children, Jackie and Cary.
Becky was always busy doing something. She was a wonderful seamstress and cook who enjoyed sharing her handmade baby blankets and angel biscuits with family and friends. She also loved caring for her dogs and flowers, traveling, and enjoyed her weekly bridge and tennis games. (She played tennis into her 80s.) She was an avid sports fan with regular floor seats to the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers basketball games. When not watching the Panthers, she would watch an ATP match, an NFL game, or a UK basketball game on television at her house. And you could always find a stack of books or crosswords next to her bed. She was also a long-time member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.
Above all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a well-known presence at (and shuttle to and from) grandkids’ school and sports events in Owensboro, often referred to as “Turbo Grandmother” by others. Her grandkids fondly remember her sleepovers, after-school frosty treats, Christmas Eve dinners, and card games. They will forever treasure the weekly letters she sent to them during college, which she always signed “Love, G.” Her family will hold dear the countless ways she showed her love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Dukes and her husband, Wesley Dukes, and her daughter, Mary (Jackie) Leslie.
She is survived by her son, Cary Reynolds (Gail); grandchildren, Josh Howes (Becky), Ashley Lile (Max), Jake Wooldridge, and Lesley Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Tristan, Justin, Macie, and Zoe Howes, and Harper and Luke Lile; 3 great-great grandchildren, along with nephew David Dukes (Sharon).
A private service will be held for the family.
