After a long and full life, Mary Dolores Payne Blincoe (“Dolores”) passed to begin her new journey on August 6, 2025, at 90 years old. She was born June 13,1935 in Centerville, Michigan to the late Harles Richard Payne and Viola Frances Miles Payne originally of St Lawrence, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, William Grover Blincoe (Bill) in 2006. They were married June 19, 1954, and shared their lives for 52 years. She served her husband and family of six children with love. Dolores touched not only their lives but also the lives of her extended family and our community.
Her early childhood was spent in Roseville, Michigan. After the family relocated to Daviess County, she began her life of service by helping her widowed mother and her blind grandmother of whom she lived with. She began her working career at age 13 with the Sisters at Mercy Hospital. After her marriage, she worked at the General Electric Tube Plant until she had her third child when she decided to be a stay-at-home mother. After her younger children were in school, she returned to the medical field by working in a gynecology office for many years where she loved and influenced many young mothers. Later she assisted in opening the Free Clinic of Owensboro and worked there until it was closed. She also loved working with those patients and truly missed the work as she retired.
She will be missed in this life by her surviving family, Judy Ann Carrico (Steve) of Owensboro, Ky, Michael Lee Blincoe (Janet) of Annapolis, Md, William Joseph Blincoe “Bill” (Sarah) of Owensboro, Ky, Donna Sue Blincoe of Louisville, Ky, Lisa Renee Ward (Terry) of Owensboro, Ky, and Joseph Richard Blincoe (Amanda) of Elizabethtown, Ky; grandchildren, Matheis Carrico (Amy), Terri Congleton (John), Aaron Carrico (Stephanie), Adam Blincoe (Sarai), Clay Blincoe (Melissa), Brian Burkett (Jennifer), Kristin Yelverton (Charles), Bethany Schneider (Matt), Emily Farmer (Zach), Will Blincoe (Lisa), Grace Blincoe, Sophi Blincoe, Ella Blincoe, Tanner Ward (Briawna), Tyler Ward (Catherine), Molly Ward, Maggie Ward, Macy Ward, Kylie Thompson, and Maddie Blincoe; great-grandchildren, William Tut Carrico, Vincent Carrico, John Paul Carrico, Frank Carrico, Levi Congleton, Lucas Congleton, David Congleton, Adam Congleton, Daniel Congleton, Jude Carrico, Felicity Carrico, Lucy Carrico, Peter Carrico, Cecelia Carrico, William Schneider, Calvin Farmer, Callahan Burkett, Wesley Burkett, Aurora Blincoe, Zeke Blincoe, Charlotte Yelverton, Abigail Yelverton, Riley Blincoe, Emersyn Ward, Cash Ward, and Cora Ward; also many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harles Richard Payne Jr; as well as five sisters, Mary Oma Cronin, Ora Lee Schultz, Mary Oneida Gilmore, Mary Emogene Payne, Joyce Ann Howard.
The funeral Mass for Dolores will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with Father Mike Williams officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 until 7 p.m. with prayers at 6 p.m., and also on Thursday from 8 until 9 a.m. all at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
