Mary Ruth Payne

Mary Ruth Boarman Payne, 85, of of the Carmel Home (formerly of 1725 McCulloch Ave), Owensboro passed on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Whitesville on July 25, 1923, Mrs. Payne was the daughter of the late Frank and Regina Hamilton Boarman; was a 60 year member of SS Joseph and Paul Catholic Church where she was an Eucharistic Minister and member of the Altar Society; and was retired from Glenmore Distillery. Mrs. Payne had volunteered at the Soup Kitchen at the Pitino Center for over 15 years and loved playing cards with her friends at the Carmel Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Payne in 1986; a son, Michael T. Payne in 2004; and 13 siblings, including Father Victor Boarman.

Survivors include sons, Ron (Denise) Payne, David Payne, and Pat (Sandy) Payne all of Owensboro; daughters, Sheila ( Tom) Moberg of Gallatin, TN, Paula (Stacey) Payne of Lexington, and Bonnie (Gary) Bivins of Owensboro; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Howard of the Carmel Home; and many nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009 at SS Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with Father Carl McCarthy officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday where prayers will be said at 7:30 pm. and from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
