Mary Millay Patterson

Mary "Tootsie" Millay Patterson, 85, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County on November 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William Gordon and Helen Payne Millay; was retired from Mercy Hospital where she was a nurse's aide for 34 years; and was a member of Sts Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Mrs. Patterson enjoyed reading, dancing, collecting dolls; and was a very special, caring person to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Patterson in 1991, brothers, Ernest Millay, Eugene Millay, John Millay, and Alfred Millay; and a grandson, Kep Patterson.

She is survived by a daughter, Patty (Danny) Shock of Owensboro; a son, Kenneth Patterson of Evansville; grandchildren, Tim (Starla) Shock, Jeff Shock, Kimberly Patterson, Shanna Palomar, Kerry Patterson, Jessica Barnard, Abby Patterson, and Joshua Patterson; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Gordon "Dub" (Evelyn) Millay of Whitesville; and sisters, Clara McDaniel of Whitesville and Helena Colyer and Mary Kirk of Owensboro.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009 at Sts Joseph and Paul Catholic Church followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice.
