Mary Ellen Pate

Mary Ellen Pate, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at home. She was born April 17, 1939 in Daviess Co., KY. She was retired from General Electric and Commonwealth Aluminum. She also had worked at Precious Blood Catholic Church Day Care. Mary was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. Throughout her life, she enjoyed working and raising flowers and vegetables. She also loved watching U.K. basketball, going to family gatherings and reunions, and playing bingo. She was a very caring person and loved helping people, but most of all, she loved spending time with her two grandchildren.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lynn Pate in 2000, her father, Joseph Henning, two brothers, Dick and Stephen Henning, and two sisters, Margie Keiser and Ida Swihart.

Surviving are a son, Melvin Pate and wife Sandra of Owensboro, her mother, Ida Gilmore Henning of Owensboro, two grandchildren, Derrick and Andrea Pate, both of Owensboro, four brothers, Billy (Lena) Henning, Charles (Gloria) Henning, Wayne (Vicki) Henning, and Mark (Donna) Henning, all of Owensboro, six sisters, Betty Williamson of Lewisport, Bessie (Ellis) Martin of Indianapolis, IN, Judy (Leon) Williams of Utica, and Linda (John) Payne, Jane (Gary) Vanover, and Paula (Scott) Robertson, all of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12 Noon Saturday, March 14, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 1:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
