Mary Elsie O'Bryan, 89, of Owensboro, a resident of the Carmel Home, died Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. A native of Daviess County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Annie Bowlds O'Bryan. She retired from General Electric and M.P.D., Inc. after 45 years of service on April 19, 1990. She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral where she was a member of the choir.
Elsie was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmo O'Bryan, J. C. O'Bryan, James O'Bryan, and Joseph "Bud" O'Bryan, and three sisters, Mattie Sue Wathen, Carmel Thompson, and Geraldine Thompson.
She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Hamilton, a sister-in-law, Pat Tucker, and numerous nieces and nephews, Emilee Ward, Sheila Franey, Bernard Wathen, Delores Murphy, Johnny Wathen, Sharon Hamilton, Gaylord Wathen, Mike Wathen, Pat O'Bryan, Joe O'Bryan, Darlene Rentshle, Doug O'Bryan, Larry O'Bryan, Wilma Knott, Carl O'Bryan, Beverly Aud, Paula Gordon, David O'Bryan, Gerald O'Bryan, Tommy Hamilton, Pamela Scott, Bonnie Howard, Kenny Hamilton, Martha Brown, Cecilia Burch, Debbie Stiff, Kathy Stiff, and Joe O'Bryan.
The family would like to thank the Carmelite Sisters, the staff at the Carmel Home, and her nieces and nephews for the care given her over the last seven years. She had many friends throughout her life and her family would like to thank each of you for your kindness and friendship to her.
Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 22, at the Carmel Home with the Rev. Jerry Riney officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday with prayers at 5:00 P.M. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and from 9:00-10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the Carmel Home.
