Mary Gertrude Mitchell

Mary Gertrude Mitchell, 98, of 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, died Tuesday, January 18, 2004 at the Carmel Home. She was born December 20, 1906, to the late Fred and Ada Sims Russell in Daviess County. She had been a bookkeeper for Owensboro Forging Company and S.W. Anderson Company. She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and was past state president of Business and Professional Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Estill Mitchell in 1940, a son, Clement Lee Mitchell in 2001, and a grandson, Joseph Edward Mitchell in 1985.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Anita Keller Mitchell; one brother, Joseph Herman Russell of Bloomington, IL; eight grandchildren, Vicki Stogsdill and her husband, Jack, Marty Mitchell and his wife, Becky, Jill Gerring and her husband, Pat, Sally Martin and her husband, Bruce, Jane Bray and her husband, Mike, Bill Mitchell, John Mitchell and his wife, Cathy, and Cathy Fike; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church with burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, with prayers at 7:00 PM Thursday.
