Mary Leo McCarty, 93, passed away on June 21, 2011 at the Carmel Home in Owensboro.
She was born on September 10, 1917 in Curdsville, Kentucky.
Mary was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church, and a longtime member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where she was active with The Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella.
Mary retired from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1986 after more than sixteen years of service in the kitchen.
She was a devoted wife and mother and loved any occasion that brought her large family together. The family enjoyed her good cooking and made a lot of great memories during these times.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Leo McCarty in 1994; a son, Martin in 1963 and a daughter, Dorothy in 1996.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Robinson (Rex) of Owensboro; sons, Herbert McCarty (Marilyn) of Owensboro, David McCarty (Cecilia) of West Louisville, Don McCarty (LeAnn) of Owensboro, Fred McCarty (Gloria) of Sorgho, Pat McCarty (Kathy) of Utica; daughter, Mary Donna Stinnett (Bobby) of Owensboro; 19 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with burial at St. Raphael Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23 from 2:00 pm until 7:00pm with prayers at 6:00 pm and on Friday after 9:00 am at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmel Home.
