Mary Lois Matheny 80, of 1651 W. 4th. St., Owensboro, departed to accept her crown of glory and rightful place next to the throne of her maker and savior on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Edward Otis and Mary Jo Merimee Wathen. She was a homemaker, and beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and faithful prayer warrior. She was a member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a Nanny to many children and her loving spirit will never be forgotten. She loved raising all types of flowers in her yard, playing bingo, and spending time with her family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Russell Matheny in 1993.
Surviving are her children, Kim Staples and husband Scott of Livermore, Cindy Miller and husband Mike of Calhoun, Janine Goatee and husband Aubrey of Owensboro, and Eddie Matheny and wife Rita of Owensboro, 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a sister, Hazel Marie Miller of Owensboro, and a sister-in-law, Bertha Wathen of Owensboro.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 11, at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 6:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
