Our mom Lucy Fogle Wright, 85, of Owensboro passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 1, 2017. Lucy was born January 3, 1932 in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late James U. Hayden Jr. and Mary Edna Fischer Hayden.
She was a member of St. Martin Parish, and was our angel on Earth as well as our angel now in Heaven.
After losing her first love Ed at the age of 30, she remarkably raised six young children on her own. She then met her second husband Gil, and together they spent several years traveling out West and enjoying life to the fullest.
Lucy loved nature and watching birds, especially hummingbirds as they flew in to her feeders. She was a very caring, loving, courageous, and spiritual Mom and "G'ma", always putting others before herself. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her family has the reassurance that she is now at peace with her Lord and Savior.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: husband, Franklin Edward Fogle; second husband, Gilbert John Wright; step-son, James Wright; son-in-law, Glenn Merritt; sisters, Millie Ivey, Betty Ann Oberst, and Doris Ann Hayden; brothers, Norman Hayden, John Hayden, and Vincent Hayden.
Survivors include her children, Steve Fogle (Judy), Dave Fogle (Michelle), Marianne Fogle Kamuf (Mike), Mark Fogle, Cathy Fogle Bayles, and Teresa Fogle Merritt. She was wholeheartedly G'ma to Derek Fogle (Danielle), Chad Fogle, Brandon Fogle (Lauren), Jonathan Fogle, Alyssa Fogle, Jeremy Kamuf (Jenny), Amy Kamuf King, Christy Bayles Redfern (Taylor), Matt Bayles (Audrey) and Kelly Merritt Midkiff (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Ella Fogle, Solange, Ava and Amelia Kamuf, Cooper and Hayden Redfern, Jace and Everlee Bayles, Keagyn Rhinerson, Norah and Max Midkiff; siblings, Sue Hill (Bill), Carol Cecil (Bill), and Delbert Hayden (Ellen); and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in St. Peter's Church Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The Mark Fogle Medical Fund, c/o Steve Fogle.
